The city is very well connected by roads and Konkan railway. Many important trains  halt at the Pernem railway station. There are also frequent bus services to reach here from different nearby cities. National Highway 17 passes through the city connecting it to cities like Mumbai and Mangalore. Dabolim airport is the nearest one from here.

Culture of Pernem

Previously a Portuguese colony, it became a part of the India after the capture of Goa by Indian Armed Forces. There are different festivals that are celebrated here however Pernem is famous for Dussehra that is celebrated here for a total of 5 days when it concludes on Kojagiri Pournima. There is a big annual fair that is organized at this time at Shri Bhagavati Temple premises. People from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka visit here during this time to witness the big fair. This is one of the biggest feasts of Goa. Hindi, Konkani, English and Portuguese are the local languages spoken here. As per the census of 2011, city has a population of 5,021. The city boasts about a high literacy rate of 91.19% which is higher than the state average of 88.7%.

Pernem has many important tourist destinations of North Goa. Some of the important tourist destinations here include Querim Beach, Arambol Beach, Terekhol Fort, Mandrem beach, Ashwem Beach, Morjim Beach and Alorna Fort. Additionally, beautiful temple of Shri Mulveer Temple is located close by. Adisthan Mangar, Bhagawati, Rawalnath, Sateri, Dwarpal, Mauli, Gautameshwar, Narayan, Mulvir, Maruti and Shri Nagnath are some of the famous temples here that people love to visit when here.
